What is a Food Hub?
Food Hubs can be set up as Farmers Markets, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Programs, or even online platforms where you can order directly from food producers. Think of it as a one-stop shop where you can find everything from fruits, veggies, meat, and eggs to locally made crafts all sourced from nearby farms and artisans. Food Hubs not only support the local economy but also promote sustainability by reducing “food miles” — the distance food travels from the farm to your table.
Why shop on the Food Hub?
When you shop through the Modoc Harvest Food Hub, you’re doing more than just buying groceries– you’re directly supporting local farmers, ranchers, and food producers who work hard to provide fresh, high-quality food for our community. Every purchase helps strengthen our local economy by keeping your food dollars circulating within Modoc County. Because our products are sourced from nearby producers, they’re fresher, more nutritious, and have traveled fewer miles than store-bought alternatives. By choosing the Food Hub, you’re helping build a resilient, sustainable food system that ensures everyone in our community has access to locally grown food.
